The job posting outlines the major duties of the audit agents, which includes carrying a firearm and being prepared to protect themselves or others from physical attacks at any time without warning. The audit agents may also use firearms in life-threatening situations and be willing to use force up to and including deadly force.
In addition, IRS-CI special agents must be capable of participating in arrests, executing search warrants, and other dangerous assignments. They also need to maintain a level of fitness necessary to respond effectively to life-threatening situations on the job.
The jobseekers must meet several requirements, such as being a U.S. citizen, between the ages of 21 and 37, and passing pre-employment medical and tax exams. They also need to pass a drug test and be legally allowed to possess firearms.
