Irresponsible Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent visit to the southern border has not done much to allay fears regarding the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, which is still spiraling out of control. Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council Art Del Cueto and Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake, both outspoken opponents of the present administration, expressed significant dissatisfaction with Harris’s attitude, especially in light of the border visit that many citizens thought was insufficient.
On Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Lake made a sharp appearance and didn’t hold back. She said, “I find it despicable,” in reference to Harris’s 20-minute border stop. “She’s been the border czar for almost four years now, and she came down, I think, to make her friends in the mainstream media happy so that they could finally say she visited the border.”
Beyond the visit, Lake implied that the Harris-led administration’s handling of border security had badly let the country down. It astonished me that she didn’t tell Joe Biden, ‘We did it, Joe,’ over the phone. She declared, “We ruined America,” which is precisely what they’re trying to achieve.
Fears about crime and Homeland Security are on the rise. Lax immigration laws are becoming a bigger issue, as noted by Lake and Del Cueto. According to Del Cueto, thousands of violent criminals have entered the country unchecked due to existing U.S. laws. He emphasized that more than 425,000 illegal aliens who are presently residing in the United States had convictions for more than 13,000 homicides and 15,000 sexual assaults. Acting ICE Director Patrick Lechleitner sent a letter to Texas Republican Representative Tony Gonzales, highlighting the severity of the situation at the southern border.
Del Cueto issued a dire warning: the country’s destiny is in jeopardy if the current course of border policing remains unchanged. “If we have four more years of this, I do not believe we’ll ever recuperate,” he stated. “This nation will recover decades after a catastrophic event. Furthermore, we won’t ever fully recover in our lifetimes.”
Republicans and many Democrats have criticized Harris’s position as the so-called “border czar,” mostly during the Biden administration. But in reality she is nothing like a ‘Border Czar but more like a Border Putz! Concerned citizens have consistently attacked Harris for what they see as her inability to sufficiently address the border situation, including former President Donald Trump. The government has come under fire for its unwillingness to enact more stringent immigration laws, even in the face of calls for tighter controls.
Harris has made an effort to defend her record, though, asserting that the government is currently developing a “comprehensive plan” to deal with the issue. She stressed the need for a balanced approach in an interview with MSNBC, saying, “That includes what we need to do to fortify not only our border but deal with the fact that we also need to create pathways for people to earn citizenship.”
Immigration seems certain to be a major topic in the 2024 election. The border crisis is at the center of Kari Lake’s campaign for the Arizona Senate because of her support for Trump’s strict immigration policies and her candidacies. Conversely, the Biden-Harris administration has endeavored to shift the blame, with Harris asserting that Trump’s policies “sabotaged” previous bipartisan attempts at border security legislation.
Republicans have persisted in pushing the narrative that Harris’s inaction has made the situation worse, despite the White House rejecting the idea that she is the only one to blame. Many Republicans viewed Harris’ recent visit to the border town of Douglas, Arizona, as merely a “photo op.”
