Watching the news over the last few days, I can hardly believe what I am seeing out of the Senate GOP. Did these morons NOT pay attention to what the hell was going on in November, or what?

Maybe that idiot McConnell just has bunker mentality after two years in the very stoppable minority. It’s the only possible explanation I can come up with for this whole “Tax Deal” fiasco that is currently being played out.

Why does he not get that this “deal” is essentially a plea bargain by the President? Obama understands where things are going to be come January, and he’s trying to make the best deal he can get, before he loses everything he’s got going in the Congress at the moment.

As usual, Obama’s campaigning for the next election instead of governing the country, and this whole play with the left “enraged” at Obama is quite simply, nothing but a charade of epic proportions. They are trying to position him for 2012 as a moderate, because they assume the American public is still gullible and simple minded, like they were in the fall of 2008. The way they see it, the plan worked last time, getting him to present himself as a moderate at odds with his own party, and that got his foot in the door, to wreak havoc with another “home invasion” on a gargantuan scale.

If these GOP bozos and “strategists” had one measly brain among the lot of them, they would simply grab sack, stand tall and call every single bluff that Democrats, ESPECIALLY Pelosi and Obama try to put up there.

As soon as this “deal” came up in the calendar, they should have been out there yelling to high heaven for the Tea Party to crash the Congressional switch board again.

Let’s look at this in a simple, logical way.

If the deal was simply, let’s leave taxes where they are for a while, and you guys get some unemployment, I can live with that. It’s not perfect, but the spin-up of the economy alone would probably pay for the unemployment benefits.

But NOOOOO….

On top of that, we’ve got to start cutting what pitiful funding we have for Social Security, which should NOT be done until a substantial restructuring and cutting of expenses for the program have been put into place. But with what we’ve got, we’re now spending the same amount of money on it, with even less funding than before.

Can you say, “Increasing the Deficit”?

As if that weren’t enough, all of a sudden it becomes some sort of priority to subsidize alcohol in unprecedented proportions, as in Rum Rations and ethanol, both completely unnecessary, because of the huge demand for the one in hard times, and the extreme lack of demand for the other because of those same hard times.

“Investment” in Guam. Uhhhh… right. Give me a break. Get some jobs rolling, rev up the economy, and lots of tourists will fly down there and “invest” in Guam.

And every bit of this, aside from the tax rates and the unemployment, is COMPLETELY antithetical to the task at hand, which is to STOP SPENDING, REDUCE GOVERNMENTAL ROLES in the economy, and CUT REGULATION. Every one of these proposals included in this sham of a bill includes extra beauracracy, more regulation, and of course more personnel expenses, including Federal benefits and union members. Which equals more dependence, more imposition, and more intertwining of the Federal government with our daily lives.

They should call both the President and Nancy on every bluff, face them to the edge and force them to jump off.

Let’s examine the Pelosi “strategy” evidenced by her language and her attitude. Who is really taking hostages here? What is Nancy’s strategy? Who is SHE holding hostage? None other than the President of the United States. Forget the rhetoric and examine the logic.

If you face her down and make her live up to what she and her caucus have been pushing, it boils down to…

“Back off, Tea Party, or the President’s a One-Termer!”

It reminds me of the Mel Brooks movie, “Blazing Saddles”, where the new sheriff is holding a gun to his own head in order to escape the lynch mob.

And if you face down Obama, HIS strategy seems to be…

“Just go ahead and insist everyone be treated equally under the law. We’ll see what the American people have to say about that, when they see me and the Democrats raising taxes on EVERYBODY! THEN you’ll be sorry!”

The simple fact is, the tax tables have already been prepared and sent to the publishers. Every tax lawyer and every tax preparation book and software program is already going to hit the market with the new, pre-Bush taxes figured into the formulas. It’s already too late to change that.

So simmer down now, as the SNL skit used to go. Think it through. Let them have their way, make sure EVERYONE knows that the Dems decided they’d rather engage in massive tax hikes rather than admit that it’s not their money.

Then you fix it in January. It’s that simple. Everybody ALREADY has to file taxes twice even if they do the tax thing RIGHT NOW. That won’t change at all if we do this now, under the Democrat terms, or later, under the Republican terms.

But we shouldn’t let them forget so quickly what just happened in the elections barely a month ago. In fact, we should be beating both sides over the head with their campaign promises, until they are black and blue.

DON’T LET THEM DO IT.

Call, fax, write, petition, email, do it like you’ve never done it before. These GOP simpletons in the Senate, and Nancy Pelosi and crew have ALREADY FORGOTTEN US.

Let’s remind them who’s really in charge here. They think they’re talking about THEIR money…
